When I was twelve the family moved from Luton to Sandhurst.  I found myself at Forest Grammar School in Winnersh, not far from Reading and, as I have boringly told my children a million times, I used to get there on a steam train.  My English Language teacher encouraged me to write stories, and I won my first writing prize at Forest Grammar.
