You may remember the short story Future from earlier on this site. Once I decided to write a filmscript, I wanted to practise on something. I worked my way through the Screenwriter's Bible, then turned the short story Future into the short script Future Past. I actually sent it to Dave Trottier, who made encouraging noises about it. I entered it into an online contest, and it stayed in contention as the entries were whittled down from 8,000 through various stages to 300. I was pleased with that, as it was nothing more than a first time practice. You might find it interesting to compare the story with the filmscript. You will be able to see for yourself the differences between the two - the style, the physical layout, and the application of the mantra SHOW, not TELL. Having worked my way through this exercise, I moved on to my real project - a filmscript version of Dead Scared.
