Playing bridge in Malta one year, I met Mary Stanley, an established writer.  We struck up a friendship, and after the success of Dead Scared I rather excitedly asked her if she would like me to attempt adapting one of her novels.  She agreed, so I chose her best-selling novel Missing and turned it into a full-length script which we eventually decided should be called Acts of Contrition.
